Job description

Position: Barn Manager

Location: Plant City, FL

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversee daily care of horses, cows, goats, and chickens, including feeding, watering, turnout, grooming, stall cleaning, and health monitoring.
  • Maintain barns, pens, pastures, equipment, and storage areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety.
  • Monitor animal behavior and welfare; coordinate veterinary visits, farrier services, vaccinations, and routine health checks.
  • Manage feed, bedding, supplements, and supply inventory; place orders and track usage.
  • Train and supervise ranch staff, volunteers, and program participants in safe animal handling and barn procedures.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to support therapeutic and educational activities for veterans and youth with special needs.
  • Implement safety protocols to protect animals, staff, and participants in all areas of the ranch.
  • Develop and maintain daily schedules, chore lists, and care logs.
  • Identify and address facility maintenance needs; coordinate with vendors or maintenance teams as required.
  • Assist with planning and supporting special events, educational workshops, and community activities held at the ranch.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with horses and livestock, including daily care and basic health management.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and train diverse teams with patience and clarity.
  • Comfort working around individuals with special needs; supportive and inclusive mindset.
  • Physical ability to lift and perform strenuous barn tasks in all weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of farm safety, emergency procedures, and animal behavior.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in therapeutic, educational, or veteran support environments.
  • Background in ranch management or multi species livestock care.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
