PURPOSE OF POSITION

Barbacks will be responsible for helping Bartenders open and/or close the bar. They keep the bar stocked with liquor, beer, spirits, garnishes, ice cubes and other products needed throughout their shift. They ensure that glasses, stirrers, shakers, strainers and other bartending tools are clean and in the proper position for Bartenders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizing supplies
  • Supporting other bar staff so service runs smoothly
  • Performing tasks to support the bartender and other staff members
  • Preparing and serving drinks, as needed
  • Restock liquor, mixers, and garnishes behind the bar
  • Perform bussing responsibilities such as clearing empty cups and trash from bartop and tables
  • Maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of bar (i.e. wipe down surfaces, push chairs and stools in, arrange drink menus and salt and pepper shakers, etc.)
  • Perform clean-ups of spills or other customer accidents as needed
  • Ensure bartenders are equipped with clean rags at bartending stations at all times
  • Clean cups and dishes in front of house; adhere to dish-washing procedures
  • Ensure bartenders are equipped with clean glasses in front of house at all times
  • Check and re-stock ice bins
  • Assist bartenders with back of house liquor inventory
  • Follow all opening, closing, and key-holding procedures during each shift
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by smiling and answering any questions our customers may ask
  • Because of the Casino’s commitment to our guests and customer service, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

INDIAN PREFERENCE

It is the policy of the Nooksack Northwood Casino, in accordance with U.S. federal law, and as an Indian-owned business, to grant preference to qualified and enrolled Nooksack Indian Tribal members, those who have close social and economic ties to Nooksack Tribal members, and other qualified (enrolled) Native Americans with the scope of the law.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Non-Gaming Nooksack Tribal Gaming Agency License
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be obtain and maintain a Washington State Food Handlers Permit.
  • Must obtain and maintain Tips MAST Certification.

PREFERRED

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in bar backing or bussing preferred
