Job description

 

SUMMARY: 

The Barback assists and supports Bartenders to ensure prompt service and guest satisfaction. This associate is responsible for general stocking of all product and maintaining cleanliness of the bar and/or event space, cooler space and bar equipment. 

This associate shall strive to provide exceptional hospitality to both internal and external guests at all times. This associate will be responsible for exemplifying the Maverick Hotel and Restaurants Culture as well as providing promotional expertise for the location as both a destination and a harmonious work environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food items needed in the preparation of drink service
  • Trash pickup and disposal at bar and bar service areas
  • Maintain personal health and sanitation standards (wash hands when using restroom, etc.)
  • Responsible for completing tasks related to stocking, replenishing, cleaning, maintenance, and preparation of beverages under the guidance of the Bartender(s) and Maverick MODs
  • Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining and organizing information files in order to deliver to Maverick MODs
  • Create and support an environment of “Teamwork” by helping a fellow employee or guest, without a second thought
  • Superior attendance and punctuality
  • Attendance in mandatory meetings, training, workshops, and/or seminars
  • Adhere to Maverick Hotels and Restaurants policies and procedures
  • Maintains and stocks adequate supplies of bar items such as glassware, cups, flatware, plateware, drink supplies, serving supplies, condiments, food items, etc.
  • Wash glassware and other serving equipment at bars
  • Stock refrigerating units with wine, beer, spirits, food, replace beer kegs, etc.
  • Replenish ice at bar and other designated areas by Maverick MOD and Bartender(s)
  • Clean and polish bar, counters, shelves, equipment, seating, tables, etc.
  • Complete closing duty task list, including restocking items, turning off lights, mopping floor, etc.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to Maverick Hotels and Restaurants standards
  • Anticipate and address guest service needs
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Maverick MODs
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures
  • Effectively communicate with peers, management, line and front of the house employees
  • Perform related duties as required by Maverick MODs
  • Be responsible for the cleanliness of the immediate work area as well as the general property
  • Be courteous and kind to all guests, teammates, and Maverick Management

Experience & Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • At least one year customer service experience required
  • At least six months food & beverage experience required
  • Prior experience as a Bartender or Barback.
  • Banquet or catering experience preferred 
  • Prior banquets experience preferred

 Job REQUIRMENTS:

  • Must be 21+ years of age and possess Illinois Basset and Food Handling Certification
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to work well under pressure

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; balance (service trays, glasses included); stoop; crouch; bend; talk; hear; taste; and smell. The employee may be required to frequently climb (stairs). The employee may be required to kneel. The employee must frequently, carry pull and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Working CONDITIONS:

 HOURS

Due to the seasonal nature of the hospitality industry, and the fact that Maverick Hotels and Restaurants provides guest services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, an employee will be required to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays and/or overtime.
