Barback Job Description

Position Overview:

The Barback is a key support role in the bar area, responsible for assisting bartenders in maintaining a clean and efficient environment. The ideal candidate will ensure the bar area is well-stocked, organized, and clean, allowing bartenders to focus on providing excellent customer service. The Barback must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong sense of urgency.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Stocking and Replenishing:

o    Ensure the bar is fully stocked with all necessary supplies, including glassware, ice, garnishes, mixers, and alcoholic beverages.

o    Replenish bar items throughout the shift as needed, including restocking liquor, beer, wine, and other beverages.

o    Monitor inventory levels and communicate any shortages to the bartender or manager.

2.    Cleaning and Maintenance:

o    Keep the bar area, including countertops, sinks, floors, and storage areas, clean and organized at all times.

o    Wash and polish glassware and bar tools, ensuring they are sanitized and ready for use.

o    Remove empty bottles, cans, and trash from the bar area and dispose of them properly.

o    Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the storage areas and coolers.

3.    Support and Assistance:

o    Assist bartenders with preparing drink garnishes, cutting fruits, and other prep work as needed.

o    Help bartenders during busy periods by taking and delivering drink orders to guests.

o    Provide support in handling cash and card transactions, if required.

o    Offer excellent customer service by interacting with guests in a friendly and professional manner.

4.    Additional Duties:

o    Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down the bar area.

o    Follow all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.

o    Perform other tasks as assigned by the bartender, bar manager, or restaurant management.

Qualifications:

•    Previous experience as a Barback or in a similar role is preferred but not required.

•    Strong organizational and time management skills.

•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

•    Excellent communication skills and a team-player attitude.

•    Knowledge of basic bar setup and beverage preparation is a plus.
