Job Description

Job Summary

The Security and Systems Administrator provides administrative and support functions to Campus Technology. The primary function of this position is enterprise administration and as a tier three point of escalation for the Help Desk team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security and Systems Administration;
  • Account creation and security profiles (Network and Email);
  • Software patch and compliance (desktop and server);
  • Full Software support lifecycle (research, packaging, deployment, support);
  • Server backup and maintenance;
  • Archive and data storage;
  • Assist support technicians with incidents requiring escalation;
  • Any special assignments/projects requested by supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and specific to area of responsibility.

Specific Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in computer science or in related field preferred.
  • Two years related job experience needed.
  • Successful completion of background check, MVR, and credit check may be required.
  • Provide end-user support for technology solutions
  • Ability to confidently demonstrate software and technology solutions to Southwestern employees
  • Collaborate in a team environment
  • Research technology solutions for organizational goals
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • The following specialized computer skills are required: Microsoft Active Directory tools including Exchange, Microsoft Office365, Microsoft SCCM
  • Must enjoy interacting with a diverse group of people from all backgrounds and age groups.
  • Exhibit a humble, patient, and collaborative spirit in order to create a healthy and vibrant work culture for the staff team.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Office Environment - May be required to reach above shoulder level for organizational tasks (e.g., retrieving files from upper shelves), bend, stoop, or reach to access lower or upper shelves.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and move about to the office to interact with other staff members.
  • Ability to use a computer and near-visual acuity in reading written documents and statistical data.
  • Exchanges information by telephone, computer, in writing and in person.
  • Ability to traverse campus for meetings and talk to groups while doing so.
  • Moderate Lifting - Occasionally transports 20-30lbs of parts and equipment across short distances by various means (e.g., carrying by hand, cart, golf cart) to accomplish tasks.
