Job Description

The PCT Star Team may be expected to work in various areas of Baptist Healthcare (to include but not limited to Baptist Hospital, Gulf Breeze Hospital, Emergency Departments and Jay Hospital) to provide support to licensed team members. Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, the Patient Care Technician performs a variety of routine duties to assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care. This position spends the majority of his or her time interacting with, assisting, and supporting our patients. Through communication, requisitioning and management of supplies and equipment, coordinates the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician, other hospital departments and visitors. He/she performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel the PCT performs a variety of routine duties to assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care.

Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients in collaboration with licensed personnel.
  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the department/division, as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed including: Sitting with patients and sitting with Baker Acted Patients.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of data collected.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification.
  • Assumes clerical duties necessary to assist the healthcare team to provide patient care.
  • Maintains supplies/inventory for department.
  • Receives and directs phone calls and serves as the receptionist for the department.
Qualifications

Minimum Work Experience

  • 6 months experience in a health care related field, required.

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association, required upon hire.
