Job Description

The Office of the University Registrar is looking for an individual to join our team as an Assistant Registrar for Transfer Credit. You will play a critical role in facilitating and maintaining all aspects of transfer credit evaluation, articulation, and coordination of academic policies related to transfer coursework. You will also play a pivotal role in ensuring Virginia Tech continues to develop a holistic and robust transfer credit ecosystem while dynamically supporting students, advisors, and faculty alike.

Important Points
1) You will be joining the Office of the University Registrar: a department dedicated to assisting students in navigating their academic journey at Virginia Tech from admission to beyond graduation.
2) You will report directly to the Associate Registrar for Student Services. This position is a regular, AP Faculty calendar-year appointment.
3) Your primary responsibilities include unit supervision, overseeing the evaluation of transfer credit, ensuring compliance with university policies and accreditation standards, and collaborating with academic departments to facilitate the seamless integration of transfer coursework into students' academic records. This role also involves maintaining articulation tables, managing related systems, and providing exceptional customer service support to students, faculty, and staff regarding transfer credit processes.

4) You will have the chance to expand your knowledge of the university and pursue career advancement within the Office of the University Registrar.
5) The salary of this position is commensurate with experience up to an expected budget max range of $65,000 - $70,000, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, and retirement options.

Required Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree with significant applicable work experience
-Demonstrated experience within a large-scale, complex organization, preferably in higher education
-Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
-Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and handle multiple responsibilities concurrently
-Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data management and record-keeping
-Knowledge of transfer credit evaluation, course equivalencies, and academic policy interpretation

Preferred Qualifications

-Supervisory experience
-Experience working in a Registrar's office or similar higher education administrative setting
-Familiarity with interpreting and communicating institutional, state, and/or federal policies and procedures related to transfer credit
-Extensive knowledge of transfer evaluation processes, student record-keeping, and best practices in credit articulation
-Proficiency in using Ellucian's Banner, Transfer Evaluation System (TES), Transferology, Banner Document Management, and/or other comparable industry software
-Understanding of uAchieve, DegreeWorks, or other degree audit system and their utilization
-Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and aptitude for working with large data sets
-Experience working with college students and knowledge of transfer student development as well as progress towards degree
-Familiarity with Virginia Tech organization structure and policies
