Mizuhoโ€™s Banking Division provides corporate and investment banking coverage, sponsor coverage, advisory and solutions and loan capital markets/syndicate to Mizuhoโ€™s client base of leading international corporations, financial institutions and public sector entities in the US and Canada. Banking supports client business activities throughout the region with an extensive range of capital markets and lending capabilities and an integrated team of coverage, advisory and product bankers responsible for client relationship management and strategic transaction development to execute banking and securities mandates and originate idea generation for potential acquisitions, divestitures and investment opportunities.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated second- or third-year Associate to join our Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets group on the Healthcare, Consumer & Industrials team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on an industryโ€‘leading platform in a fastโ€‘paced, clientโ€‘focused environment, supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of investmentโ€‘grade debt transactions for corporate clients globally.

Responsibilities
  • Support senior bankers in the execution of debt capital markets transactions, including bond offerings, liability management transactions, and capital structure advisory assignments.
  • Take ownership of transaction processes and coordinate key workstreams, including leading internal and external calls when appropriate.
  • Provide clients with timely market updates, insights, and actionable financing ideas via phone and email.
  • Conduct market research and analysis on macroeconomic trends, credit markets, investor sentiment, and primary/secondary bond market activity.
  • Prepare pitch books, client presentations, transaction materials, and market update materials.
  • Manage the endโ€‘toโ€‘end preparation, review, and execution workflow for client materials and transaction deliverables.
  • Monitor primary and secondary bond markets and provide relevant updates to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Collaborate with syndicate, sales, trading, credit, legal, and other internal teams to ensure seamless transaction execution.
  • Support the team in maintaining and building strong client relationships through effective communication, thoughtful analysis, and exceptional service.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • 4-5 years of experience in investment banking, capital markets, or a related financial services role, with a strong preference for a prior role in a fixedโ€‘incomeโ€‘related position.
  • Strong understanding of fixedโ€‘income products, credit ratings, financial markets, investmentโ€‘grade debt instruments, capital structures, and capital market dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, financial modeling, and fixedโ€‘income valuation.
  • Proactive, detailโ€‘oriented mindset with the ability to operate efficiently under tight deadlines in a lean team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Series 79 and 63 licenses.
Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary ranges from $175,000 โ€“ $225,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
