Job description

We are looking for an entry-level Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Markle, Indiana. This opportunity is well suited for someone who enjoys working across core accounting functions, including payables, receivables, general ledger activity, and reconciliations. The person in this role will help maintain accurate financial records during a busy business cycle and provide dependable support for month-end and year-end accounting tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices and assist with timely accounts payable activities to ensure accurate and organized payment workflows.
• Support customer billing and cash application tasks by helping manage accounts receivable records and resolve routine discrepancies.
• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger while maintaining accuracy and proper documentation.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations, researching variances and following through on needed corrections.
• Assist with month-end close procedures by organizing schedules, reviewing balances, and supporting reporting deadlines.
• Contribute to year-end accounting activities by helping compile financial data and complete assigned reconciliation work.
• Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation in a clear, consistent, and audit-ready manner.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to provide additional coverage during periods of increased workload and shifting departmental needs.• Prior experience or foundational knowledge in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related finance support role.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and basic general ledger processes.
• Experience preparing accounting entries and reconciling bank or balance sheet accounts.
• Ability to support month-end and year-end close activities with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools to manage financial data accurately.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
