Job description

A leading international law firm is seeking to recruit a talented associate with 2+ years of relevant experience to join its Chambers-ranked Banking & Finance team in its New York office. This is an excellent opportunity to take on significant responsibility early in your career while advising on a broad range of sophisticated domestic and cross-border financing transactions within a dynamic and expanding practice.


Responsibilities


  • Advise lenders, borrowers, sponsors, and financial institutions on a wide range of banking and finance matters, including leveraged finance, acquisition finance, real estate finance, and general corporate lending transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate key finance documents, including credit agreements, security documents, intercreditor agreements, and ancillary transaction documentation.
  • Manage and coordinate transaction processes from inception through to completion, ensuring transactions progress efficiently and within required timelines.
  • Conduct and oversee due diligence exercises relating to financing transactions, including reviewing corporate structures, security packages, and existing financing arrangements.
  • Work closely with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams across multiple jurisdictions to ensure seamless execution of complex transactions.
  • Support partners and senior lawyers on high-value and multi-jurisdictional financing matters while developing increasing responsibility for client relationships and day-to-day transaction management.


Qualifications


  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Admission to the New York Bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience at a reputable law firm, with strong exposure to banking and finance transactions.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating finance documentation and coordinating transaction closings.
  • Strong understanding of lending structures, secured transactions, and general banking principles.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong academic credentials and a proactive, collaborative approach to client service and teamwork.
