Job description

Job Title: Investment Banking Associate - Financial Technology (FinTech)
Position Overview
We are seeking a high-performing and entrepreneurial Investment Banking Associate to join our premier, specialized Financial Technology (FinTech) team in New York City. As an Associate, you will sit at the intersection of finance and technology, working on high-profile, complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private capital raises, and strategic advisory for leading FinTech disruptors and established industry incumbents.
At our firm, Associates operate with a high degree of responsibility, enjoying significant client exposure, mentorship from senior managing directors, and a collaborative, non-bureaucratic environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Transaction Execution: Lead the day-to-day execution of M&A transactions, capital raises, and strategic advisory assignments from kickoff to close.
  • Financial Modeling & Valuation: Construct and oversee complex financial analyses, including detailed three-statement models, leveraged buyout (LBO) models, discounted cash flow (DCF) analyses, and comparable company/precedent transaction matrices.
  • Content Creation: Drive the preparation of high-quality presentation materials, including pitch books, confidential information memorandums (CIMs), management presentations, and board materials.
  • Due Diligence Management: Coordinate and manage the due diligence process, serving as a primary point of contact for clients, buyers, legal counsel, and accounting teams.
  • Sector Coverage: Monitor industry trends, capital markets activity, and emerging technologies within the FinTech ecosystem (e.g., payments, SaaS, wealthtech, crypto/blockchain, insurtech, and lending).
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and review the work of Investment Banking Analysts, fostering an environment of continuous learning and flawless execution.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: 1-3 years of investment banking experience as an Associate (or 3+ years as an Analyst with a proven track record of promotion). Prior experience covering FinTech, Technology, or Financial Institutions (FIG) is highly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree with a stellar academic record from a top-tier institution. An MBA from a premier business school is a plus but not required if equivalent banking experience is demonstrated.
  • Technical Excellence: Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the presence and confidence to interface directly with C-suite executives and founders.
  • Core Competencies: Strong project management abilities, a proactive work ethic, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, leanly staffed team environment.
  • Licensing: Series 79 and 63 licenses are preferred (must be obtained shortly after hiring if not active).

What We Offer
  • Top-of-market compensation (competitive base salary + performance-based bonus).
  • Direct, un-intermediated exposure to landmark FinTech transactions and elite senior leadership.
  • A clear, meritocratic pathway for rapid career progression within the firm.
  • A dynamic, collaborative culture that values intellectual curiosity and work-life sustainability over rigid corporate bureaucracy.

About the Firm
We are a premier, independent investment banking boutique recognized for delivering world-class strategic advice and execution excellence. By pairing deep sector specialization with a pure advisory focus, we partner with the world's most innovative companies to achieve transformative outcomes.
