Job description

Senior Platform Engineer

PortX is a leading AI-powered data and integration company for modern banking, bringing systems together and data to life through our unified platform for modern integration, governed customer 360 data, and next-generation payments.

We're in strong growth mode, with an opportunity for a Senior Platform Engineer, working in a high-impact environment that's open and rewarding, so it’s a great time to join.

Role overview:

This position is responsible for building applications and tools to manage infrastructure and continuous deployment systems for PortX’s Kubernetes-based hosting platform in AWS. The platform provides highly available and secure microservices API hosting for financial institutions using cloud-native technologies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and manage secure, highly-available, cloud infrastructure using Pulumi.
  • Engineer new platform technologies using a variety of languages and tools.
  • Support and enhance our internal platform tooling.
  • Regularly update all infrastructure components to ensure platform security.
  • Ensure systems meet SOC 2 compliance.
  • Create and manage networking integrations with customer networks.
  • Perform monitoring and performance tuning of Java, Python, Go, and TypeScript based microservice applications.
  • Create documentation and diagrams.
  • Evangelize Kubernetes, Docker and infrastructure best practices.
  • Support development teams configuring applications to run on the infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and determine the root cause using industry standard observability tools.
  • Troubleshoot networking issues using industry standard tools.
  • Collaborate across a variety of technology disciplines in a fast-moving environment.

Technical skills required:

  • Strong Troubleshooting and CodeGen AI skills (GitHub Copilot or Claude Code preferred)
  • Familiarity with GitOps operating frameworks and best practices
  • Common AWS services (IAM, S3, EC2, RDS, ElastiCache)
  • AWS
    VPC networking (subnets, routing, multi-AZ)
  • Kubernetes (5+ years) in production at scale) (preferably EKS)
  • Docker (Dockerfile best practices, Multi-stage builds)
  • Helm  (including Helm chart best practices)
  • Common CI systems (GitHub Actions preferred)
  • Strong competency with Python and Go
  • Linux Shell scripting (5+ years)
  • Knowledge and experience working with IaC tools such as Pulumi or Terraform
  • Common security best practices

This is a chance to join a fast-growing company at the forefront of AI-powered banking integration and data innovation. You will work in a collaborative, high-impact environment where your technical expertise and customer-facing skills directly influence business growth and customer success. At this stage, ownership isn't a talking point - it's the job. You'll drive your space end to end, which means your time and availability flex with what the work actually needs, not a fixed clock. If that type of environment is energizing rather than exhausting, you'll thrive here.
PortX Principles:

  • Do Everything with Purpose
  • Challenge the Ordinary
  • Check your Ego at the Door

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation: attractive equity opportunities at a venture-backed startup
  • High Impact Role: Have a direct and immediate impact on revenue & scaling the business
  • Insurance (medical, dental, vision)
  • 401(k)
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Be a part of a collaborative and highly motivated team culture where your voice is heard and you're not just a number in a big company
