Senior Load Bank Technician - Data Center Equipment Rental - Ashburn, VA
Our client is a fast growing company supporting mission critical test equipment rental for electrical load bank applications as well as liquid-cooled load banks space to support new AI data projects for data center projects. They help their customers by providing solutions for testing their customer's existing electrical infrastructure like switchgear and transformers which additionally supports the reliability of the electrical grid. This company provides rental solutions to many of the world's largest organizations, Enterprise Clients, Colocation Providers and Hyperscale Companies. We are looking for a Senior Load Bank Tech to join their customer support team. This is an onsite role and act as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) on all data center Air Cooled / Liquid Cooled (AC and LC) Load Banks. There may be some offsite travel if needed, however primarily an onsite role. Ideal candidate will possess experience in the Mission Critical Data Center Facilities Industry working with Low / Medium / High Voltage Equipment, Power Transformers, Controls and Monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare load banks and related equipment for customer rental, ensuring they are clean, tested, and ready for deployment
  • Utilizes hand tools and test equipment to perform work
  • Inspect returned equipment, identify damage or performance issues, and perform functional testing
  • Perform preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and minor repairs on load banks and associated accessories
  • Maintain accurate service records and document inspections, testing, and repairs
  • Prepare equipment for outbound shipments by following company packaging and quality standards
  • Collaborate with Operations, Calibration, and Customer Service teams to ensure equipment availability and customer satisfaction
  • Follow all safety procedures while working with electrical equipment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Preferably 2-6+ years experience in this field and ability to troubleshoot down to component level on equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDU's / Power Distribution Units, Static Automatic Transfer Switches, Branch Circuit Monitoring, and other electrical equipment
  • Interest in or willingness to work with load bank equipment used in data center environments
  • Must be able to provide high level of quality customer service
  • Must be able to complete Field Service Reports within a timely manner
  • Requires knowledge of equipment manufacturer's specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new equipment and systems through self-directed research, manager-led training and observation
  • Must be able to perform repeated bending & lifting between 50 -100lbs during certain procedures
  • Candidate must be willing to work nights & weekends if necessary
  • Knowledge of general computer hardware & software applications
  • Technical degree a plus
  • Previous military experience and training a plus
  • Ability to read and understand one line drawings and schematics
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Clean US Driving License
  • Effective Communicator-emails, phone, meetings, etc.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy Nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force โ€“ Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)
