Area Manager - Mortgage Division

Position Summary
The Area Manager for Texana Bank's Mortgage Division is a senior leadership role responsible for driving mortgage loan production across multiple states. This leader oversees a team of Branch Managers and their respective origination teams, ensuring strong production performance, disciplined risk management, and a culture aligned with Texana Bank's values. The Area Manager plays a key role in strategic growth, market expansion, and operational excellence, reporting directly to the SVP of Mortgage Production.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
• Lead, mentor, and develop Branch Managers and their origination teams across a multi-state region.
• Establish clear performance expectations, production goals, and accountability standards.
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on customer service, compliance, and sustainable growth.
• Partner with HR and senior leadership on recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top mortgage talent.
Production & Market Growth
• Drive mortgage loan origination volume to meet or exceed regional and corporate goals.
• Identify and execute market expansion opportunities within assigned states.
• Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to inform strategy.
• Support Branch Managers in developing local business plans and referral-partner relationships.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
• Ensure all branches operate in full compliance with federal, state, and investor regulations, as well as Texana Bank policies.
• Collaborate with Operations, Compliance, Secondary Marketing, and other internal teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Monitor pipeline quality, pull-through rates, and loan performance metrics.
• Implement best practices for workflow, customer experience, and risk mitigation.
Strategic Collaboration
• Work closely with the SVP of Mortgage Production to align regional goals with corporate strategy.
• Provide regular reporting on production results, staffing needs, market conditions, and operational challenges.
• Participate in leadership meetings, strategic planning sessions, and cross-functional initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
• 7+ years of mortgage lending experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or multi-branch management role.
• Proven track record of driving production growth across multiple markets.
• Strong knowledge of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and secondary market practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate distributed teams.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
