Job Purpose & Scope

Responsible for planning and leading projects that analyze loan portfolio segments and evaluates the quality of credit approval decisions with a focus on identifying the strength of loan underwriting, loan structuring, loan monitoring, risk rating accuracy, and workout and recovery plans. 

 


Essential Job Functions
  1. Functions as a Reviewer-In-Charge (RIC).
  2. Leads pre-review discovery and planning meetings with credit risk and line management, manages the fieldwork phase, rolls up loan transaction results, identifies reportable risk issues, and presents findings and conclusions at management exit meetings.
  3. Manages a pipeline of loans that are generally the most complex and technical loan transactions.
  4. Performs continuous monitoring of assigned loan portfolios or portfolio segments.
  5. Performs quality assurance work on beginner and intermediate level credit risk reviews.
  6. Evaluates credit delivery infrastructure supporting credit decisions and ongoing portfolio management.
  7. Completes special projects and research as assigned.
  8. Embraces a culture of continuous improvement and supports the team’s professional practice and quality control standards.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  1. Advanced knowledge of loan documentation, credit fundamentals, and financial statement analysis.
  2. Strong knowledge of commercial loan origination, underwriting, servicing, and monitoring practices and procedures.
  3. Exceptional knowledge and understanding of federal banking regulations related to lending and risk management.
  4. Knowledge of commercial lending and capital market products.
  5. Knowledge and understanding of basic principles of auditing.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  7. Strong analytical and technical competencies. 
  8. Ability to utilize discretion and sound judgment in decision-making.
  9. Ability to effectively analyze problematic and complex commercial real estate and commercial & industrial loan transactions.
  10. Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  11. Strong ability to influence and persuade others to achieve goals.
  12. Ability to manage multiple tasks with exacting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  13. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  14. Ability to demonstrate effective organization, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  15. Ability to work without supervision.
  16. Ability and desire to continuously learn.
  17. Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word; ability to acquire other computer skills as needed.

Basic Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree, or commensurate work experience, required.
  2. Minimum of seven (7) years of commercial lending work experience, required.
  3. Minimum of two (2) years of Commercial Credit Risk Review, or commensurate Bank Examiner work experience, required.
  4. Commercial Credit Officer experience, preferred.
  5. Workout & Recovery Officer (Special Assets) experience, preferred.
  6. RMA Credit Risk Certification (“CRC”), preferred.
