Qualifications:
Professional Educator License (PEL) with Music Endorsement
Examples of Duties:
  • Develop lesson plans to include a balanced music program and organize daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
  • Teach courses in music utilizing curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Teach music appreciation, music history and music theory.
  • Promotes and directs the band.
  • Adapts curriculum to provide individual, small group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Evaluates each student's musical growth and performance.
  • Plans, rehearses and directs students in musical programs for the school.
  • Manage materials and equipment effectively.
  • Request books, musical instruments, and instructional aides; maintains required inventory records.
  • Maintains the storage and use of school-owned property; makes adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
  • Will accompany groups during the presentation of music/fine arts/band programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Ability to:
  • Provide specialized resource support and coordination of a creative and innovative music instruction and band program.
  • Analyze and assess music program needs, and offer recommendations pertaining to program activity revisions, additions, or deletions.
  • Establish and maintain effective organization, community, and public relationships.
