What is a balloon?

A Balloon job typically refers to a role related to the design, creation, or operation of balloons, such as in entertainment, advertising, or aviation. This could include balloon artists, hot air balloon pilots, or professionals managing promotional balloon displays. Duties vary depending on the specific type of balloon work, from inflating and shaping balloons to navigating airspace. Training requirements differ based on the role, with certification needed for pilots.

What are some common challenges faced by professional balloon artists during event setups?

Balloon artists often encounter challenges such as tight setup timelines, working in venues with limited space or difficult access, and ensuring that balloon displays remain intact throughout the event. Weather conditions, especially at outdoor events, can affect the longevity and appearance of balloon arrangements. Additionally, artists must collaborate closely with event planners and other vendors to ensure their creations align with the overall event design and schedule.

Job description

$19 - $19 an hour
Balloon Manufacturing TechnicianTucson, AZCompany Overview

Ondas Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:ONDS) is building a new kind of intelligence company, one designed for a world where speed, autonomy, and decision advantage matter more than ever. By combining multi-domain platforms, advanced sensing, secure networks, and AI-enabled analytics, Ondas helps defense, government, and critical infrastructure customers transform complex mission data into decision-ready insights when and where they matter most.

Ondas Sentinel is Ondas' U.S.based defense division, purpose-built to deliver U.S.made, U.S. delivered capabilities for the Department of Defense and allied ministries of defense. The division brings together advanced autonomous systems, mission technologies, and intelligence solutions that help customers create persistent awareness, operate with confidence, and make faster decisions in complex and contested environments.

The Stratospheric ISR business unit within Ondas Sentinel is focused on one of the most unique mission areas in aerospace and defense: manufacturing and operating high-altitude stratospheric balloon systems. Few companies in the world can do this work at operational scale. That means our teams are not simply maintaining existing systems; they are building new capabilities, solving first-of-their-kind challenges, and helping define what persistent.

Job Description

As a Balloon Manufacturing Technician, you will play a hands-on role in building the next generation of stratospheric balloon systems. You will work across equipment, materials, and production processes, supporting the full product lifecycle from development through production while helping deliver high-quality systems at scale.

Role Responsibilities

Support the setup, operation, and continuous improvement of balloon fabrication and assembly areas.

Help develop, document, and refine manufacturing and verification processes that support quality and scale.

Fabricate and assemble prototype and production balloon systems with care, consistency, and attention to detail.

Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to solve issues, improve productivity, and support production needs.

Inspect work in process and finished products to help maintain high quality and identify issues early.

Support a range of hands-on production activities, including physical tasks and other responsibilities needed to meet program goals.

Qualifications

This is a highly specialized role performed in very few places in the world, so while relevant experience is valuable, it is not essential. What matters most is attitude, curiosity, care in your work, and a willingness to learn a rare and highly technical skill. If you are hands-on, safety-minded, adaptable, and motivated to grow, we encourage you to apply.

A strong learning mindset, positive attitude, and willingness to develop new technical skills in a highly specialized manufacturing environment.

Hands-on experience in manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or another practical technical environment is helpful, but equivalent transferable experience is also valued.

Careful, safety-focused work habits, including comfort using shop tools, measuring equipment, and following clean, controlled production practices.

Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to follow instructions, raise issues, and contribute ideas for improvement.

Ability to work with initiative, adapt in a fast-paced environment, and support changing priorities as programs evolve.

Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, stooping, lifting materials, and performing hands-on production work safely and consistently.

Willingness to support operational needs, including occasional overtime, weekend work, and shift work. Some travel in support of launches or mission activities may be required.

Experience in areas such as controlled manufacturing environments, automation, stratospheric ballooning, plastic heat sealing, polyethylene film handling, textiles, or pattern making would be an advantage but not essential.

What We Offer

You will work side by side with experts in emerging technology, gaining exposure to cutting edge ideas and projects that are shaping the future. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance because we believe in taking care of the you as a person, not just a team member.

Our Tucson workplace is designed to support collaboration, focus, and well-being, with an on-site environment that keeps manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, quality, and program teams closely connected to the mission.

We believe in creating a dynamic and inclusive workplace where creativity thrives, and every voice is heard. Our commitment to all team members is built upon five core cultural pillars: Engage, Lean In, Create, Care, and Own. Together, these pillars form the foundation of our employee experience while adhering to the highest standards of ethical and sustainable practices.

This role is also a strong entry point into a career at World View. As you build expertise in the highly specialized craft of balloon fabrication and assembly, you will have the opportunity to grow within manufacturing and explore broader career paths across the business over time.

Some Final Notes

The description gives you a sense of what the position involves, but is not an exhaustive list. We are a growing and evolving team, which means your responsibilities may shift or expand over time as new opportunities arise. Flexibility and curiosity are part of what make our work exciting!

At Ondas Sentinel, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate belonging and diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members. We welcome applications from every background and life experience because we know our differences make us stronger.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
