Job description

Wholesale Bakery Driver - Tuesday through Sunday 2 am - 10 am.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Delivery drivers are responsible for the delivery of the products of the Olde Hearth Bread Co. to its wholesale customers. 
  • As professional drivers, they practice as well as promote safe driving at all times. 
  • They will be responsible for loading the trucks and delivering products in a timely manner to our customers. 
  • Delivery drivers are to perform their duties in a conscientious team oriented manner with respect for company property, customers and fellow employees.
  • Upon arriving at the bakery they are to check with the bagging supervisor to see if their orders for their route are complete and ready to be loaded on the truck.
  • With the route sheet in hand find each of your customers orders and bring them to the loading dock behind your truck. 
  • Load the customer orders into the truck using the first in, last out concept (This means the orders you will deliver first will be the last orders loaded on the truck). 
  • Double-check your work by counting the orders on the truck and comparing that count to the number of orders on the route sheet.
  • Start your deliveries making certain to meet the delivery deadlines that the customers have set. These delivery times are identified on the route sheet. You are to follow the route the way you were trained. At no point are you to make side trips or any unauthorized stops.
  • Food safety is a major concern for you and the company. All products must be handled in a proper manner to assure that they are safe.
  • No use of phones while driving. Listening to music is okay but no texting or talking while driving.
  • Communicate with all of our customers in a courteous and respectful manner at all times.
  • At every stop pick up as many empty trays as possible. Without trays the bakery can’t function.
  • On you’re way back to the bakery check to see that you have enough fuel in the truck to run the next day’s route. If not fuel up. If your off the following day make sure the truck as been filled with fuel.
  • You are responsible for the cleanliness of your truck. At the end of each route you must sweep out the inside of the truck and do any other necessary cleaning to keep the truck clean and safe at all times.
  • You are not permitted to sleep in the truck. Do not allow friends or family to ride in the truck and do not pick up anyone.

Position Requirements:
  • After being hired and before you start work on the first day you must present to the manager that hired you a copy of your valid Florida driver’s license and a print out your records from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicle (MVR).
  • You must be at least twenty-one years of age.
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity are required to perform this job i.e. you must be able to lift 50 lbs or more.
  • The job requires that you have the ability to work in a very hot working environment.
  • You must be available to work late night and/or morning shifts
  • You must be self-motivated, reliable and honest and be able to perform with out close supervision.
  • You must be able to successfully communicate with all of your coworkers and the company management.
