Hourly Pay Range: $18.97 - $28.30

(this pay range represents the rates of pay for step 1 to the maximum step for this position in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. The starting pay for the successful candidate will start at step 1)

JOB SUMMARY:

The NOTC Clerk is accountable for delivering G.O.A.T. (Greet, Observe, Assist, Thank) service to our customers.  

This position is responsible for providing exceptional over-the-counter customer service while supporting all daily operations within the Service Deli and Bakery departments. Responsibilities include preparing and packaging deli or bakery items, maintaining product quality and presentation, and ensuring all food safety and sanitation standards are met. This role plays a key part in creating a positive shopping experience by delivering prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service.

For a graveyard shift NOTC Clerk, responsibilities include stocking products, preparing displays for the following day, and ensuring all areas are clean, organized, and ready for opening.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 This job posting includes all duties that can be performed by a NOTC Clerk.

  • Provide friendly, helpful service while maintaining a professional demeanor and enhancing the customer’s shopping experience (G.O.A.T)
  • Handle customer concerns or complaints politely and professionally, and escalate to upper management when necessary
Service Deli Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent over-the-counter customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and fulfilling product requests
  • Prepare deli items such as sandwiches, salads, and hot case offerings, following established recipes and portion guidelines
  • Slice, weigh, package, and label deli meats, cheeses, and prepared foods according to customer specifications
  • Stock, rotate, and merchandise service deli products in display cases to ensure freshness and appeal
  • Monitor product expiration dates and remove outdated or unsellable items as needed
  • Take and fulfill special orders for party trays and catering requests
  • Assist with inventory control by accurately recording waste, transfers, and markdowns
  • Operate deli equipment such as slicers, ovens, fryers, and scales safely and appropriately 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area, including equipment, counters, and display cases
  • Participate in regular cleaning schedules and deep-cleaning tasks as assigned
Bakery Responsibilities:
  • Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service at the bakery counter, assisting with product selection, and taking customer orders
  • Baking preparation to meet production goals when making bakery items 
  • Assemble and decorate cakes, cupcakes, and other bakery items; along with custom order preparation by following design specifications 
  • Ensure decorated items meet quality and presentation standards
  • Package and label bakery items such as breads, cakes, pastries, and cookies following store quality standards
  • Maintain attractive, clean, and well-stocked bakery display cases to ensure products are presented in an appealing manner
  • Regularly check and restock bakery items on the sales floor, ensuring freshness and proper rotation; check items for freshness and remove expired products
  • Monitor inventory and communicate any stock shortages or waste to management
  • Safely operate ovens and other baking equipment while monitoring bake times and product quality.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and quality control procedures as required by store policy and health regulations
Stock Crew Responsibilities:
  • Unload and break down pallets efficiently and safely
  • Stock shelves accurately, ensuring products are neatly arranged and fully stocked
  • Perform product rotation by checking expiration dates and placing older items in front
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of stock and sales floor areas
  • Prepare the store for the next day by ensuring displays and shelves are orderly and customer-ready
  • Report any inventory shortages, damages, or discrepancies to management
Other Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth department operations and excellent customer experience
  • Adhere to all store policies and local health regulations for safe food preparation, temperature control, and storage
  • May be assigned to work in Grocery or Produce departments based on operational needs, which includes merchandising grocery items and providing support to either department as needed
  • All other related duties as required and assigned
     
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma is preferred but not required
  • A valid Food Handler / Health Card (for fresh departments) 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
  • Friendly, helpful attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction and service at all time
  • Ability to work well within the team and follow direction with a good attitude
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with customers and other teammates
  • Basic math and reading skills for handling recipes, pricing, labels, equipment, and inventory
  • Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently
  • Basic knowledge of cake and cupcake decorating is a plus (training can be provided)
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must maintain a sense of integrity and adhere to all store policies and procedures, including safety standards and the collective bargaining agreement
