Job Summary
The Bakery Assistant supports the preparation and production of high-quality baked goods, ensuring consistency, freshness, and presentation standards are met. This role also contributes to delivering exceptional customer service within the dining facility by maintaining a welcoming and efficient bakery environment. The Bakery Assistant monitors sanitation practices to ensure full compliance with food safety standards and regulations. Additionally, they provide guidance, support, and direction to student and temporary employees to promote a productive and team-oriented workplace.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and produce baked goods using a variety of baking techniques, while assisting with daily product testing and completing prep assignments for upcoming production
  • Monitor product levels and assist with production flow during peak periods to minimize waste and ensure items are well-stocked and available
  • Follow established recipes, production schedules, and quality standards to ensure consistency, freshness, and presentation of all baked items
  • Maintain cleanliness of bakery equipment and workspaces, completing daily sanitation tasks and supporting deep cleaning during slower periods
  • Provide excellent customer service during daily operations and special events, remaining visible and available to assist with questions, requests, and concerns
  • Support and collaborate with team members, including student and temporary staff, to maintain efficient operations and a positive work environment

  • ServSafe Certification, or ability to obtain in the first thirty (30) days of employment

Required Experience
  • 1 year of relevant work experience in food service or a bakery setting
