Butter Pecan Bakeshop is a fast-growing bakeshop with locations throughout the Bay Area. We are hiring additional bakery team members to keep up with demand. We specialize in freshly baked cookies available for local pick-up, delivery, and nationwide shipping.

Job Description

Who are we looking for?

If you are good with people, responsible, thrive in providing an excellent customer experience and have a strong work ethic, we'll teach you the rest.

What you will do:

Welcome customers with a smile and friendly attitude. Review the menu, make recommendations, and provide a superior customer experience. Utilize POS (point of sale) system to process transactions accurately and efficiently. Pack orders correctly and handle them with care. Perform customer service tasks as directed by Manager(s), Shift Lead(s) and/or Owners. Ensure all areas are clean, neat, and organized at all times.

Tasks and job expectations include but are not limited to:

  • Operate cash register/point-of-sale system
  • Sell freshly baked cookies
  • Have a positive attitude at all times and be reliable
  • Work well on a team
  • Must be able to maintain consistent availability and commit to shifts
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Perform shifts as scheduled to open and close the bakeshop
  • Complete guest orders with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Answer questions and provide excellent customer service with confidence
  • Identify and recover guests who are dissatisfied with service and/or product
  • Ensure all food is prepared, handled and stored according to all required food safety code standards
  • Valid CA Food Handler's Certificate required upon hire

Requirements:

  • RELIABILITY AND EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE ARE REQUIRED.
  • Previous quick service food handling experience in either the hospitality or food and beverage industry required
  • One year of experience in a customer service environment
  • Must maintain and follow strict cleaning and food handling/safety guidelines. Hats, hairnets and gloves are required at all times.
  • Able to precisely and consistently bake cookies according to baking instructions.
  • Have integrity, positive attitude & take initiative.
  • Comfortable working on a team and independently.
  • Be trustworthy. Will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to protect recipes, etc.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently.
  • Ability to multitask while paying special attention to detail and is meticulous.
  • Previous experience using POS (point-of-sale) equipment is a plus
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule according to business needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking, kneeling, bending, and reaching overhead
  • Operate commercial ovens, refrigerators, and freezers
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds

Language Skills:

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English

Work Schedule:

  • Opening shifts start as early as 8am and closing shifts end as late 7:30pm weekdays and 5:30pm weekends
  • Approximately 20 hours or more per week
  • Must have flexibility; schedule may change

Job Types: Part-time or Full-time

Pay: $17.50 per hour plus tips
