Job description

Description

The Plant Operations Manager has direct responsibility for all activities that occur within location conditioning, rebagging and warehousing operations. In short, they are responsible for processing seed so that all customer quality specifications are met, while also maximizing the number of finished units bagged. Other responsibilities include:

  • Hires and supervises temporary & seasonal employees. Also provides daily supervision of full-time employees working within plant processes.
  • Assist the Location Manager with employee reviews.
  • Ensures safe work environment and implements company safety programs
  • Implementing Remington QMS program within area of responsibility
  • Maintaining product integrity for all products processed
  • Operating facility within location budget. Assists Location Manager in developing annual budget.
  • Maintaining adequate inventory of all packaging and conditioning supplies by working closely with customers, vendors, and other Remington locations.
  • Communicating bagging schedule and customer packaging instructions to plant employees
  • Initiating problem solving to improve location performance as needs arise
  • Ensuring that all plant equipment is maintained properly to minimize in-season downtime
  • Maintaining accurate inventory within warehouses
  • Ensuring accurate completion of processing work orders so that customers are invoiced correctly
  • Maintaining facility appearance in a professional manner

Requirements

  • A 4-year college degree in Agriculture preferred but not mandatory
  • Agricultural background is beneficial
  • Advanced computer skills required
  • Understanding of seed production or minimum of four years of related experience
  • Excellent communications skills with positive attitude
  • Employee team building skills
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Well organized
