Role and Responsibilities

As a Cargo Agent your primary job duty is, but is not limited to the following:

  1. To ensure the safety and security of all cargo tendered for transportation and distribution
  2. Follow all government and operational regulations
  3. Install straps, braces, and padding to loads to prevent shifting or damage during shipment
  4. Assemble containers and crates used to transport items such as machines or vehicles
  5. Direct or participate in cargo loading to ensure completeness of load and even distribution of weight
  6. Direct delivery trucks to shipping doors or designated marshaling areas and help load and unload goods safely
  7. Route received goods to first available flight or to appropriate storage areas or departments, using forklifts, hand trucks, or other equipment
  8. Retrieve stored items and trace lost shipments as necessary
  9. Attach address labels, identification codes, and shipping instructions to containers
  10. Inspect and count items received and check them against invoices or other documents, recording shortages and rejecting damaged goods

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Driver's License
  • 18 years old or have a valid government issued workers permit
  • High school graduate or GED
  • US Citizen (Screener qualified)
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Lift 25-75 lbs.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, obtain a SIDA badge, USPS certification, and 10-year back ground check
