Metro Fire + Security has been serving Arizona since 1972. We are a full-service fire protection company that offers statewide service. From initially selling and servicing fire extinguishers, we have transformed ourselves into a full-service fire and life safety corporation. We now specialize in sprinkler system testing, repair and installation, kitchen and restaurant systems, fire alarm design, installation and service, backflow prevention devices, full service alarm monitoring, fire pump repair and installation, and underground hydrant repairs and installation, among the many services we offer.

The Backflow Repair and Inspection Technician will be responsible for inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing fire, domestic and irrigation backflow assemblies. The appropriate candidate should also have experience with using a ProPress pipe joining system as well as cutting and soldering of copper joints. Fire Alarm and Sprinkler system ITM would be considered a plus. All testing and inspection shall be performed to the prescribed standards, performing on-site emergency troubleshooting and minor repairs of our customers systems, and identifying code and non-compliance issues. A desired candidate is reliable, thorough, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. 


Responsibilities  

Conduct backflow inspections for existing structures, renovations, and new construction

Ensure customers are serviced to the highest level of satisfaction through quality service and that the customers' expectations are satisfied before leaving job site

Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of backflow product lines to the applicable standards

Perform troubleshooting, service, and repairs as necessary

Identify code and other non-conformance issues and make recommendations on repairs or preventive maintenance

Review inspection report with customer and provide a detailed explanation of inspection results

Complete and produce reports that are legible, accurate and detailed

Invoice paperwork in a timely manner

Work closely with Lead Backflow Technician to ensure the customer receives the scheduled work promised

stay current with code requirements and industry changes

Attend and complete all required safety training

Maintain and outfit company provided service vehicle to effectively complete assign tasks (i.e. - Clean and Maintenance Solo Equipment, Battery Testers, Batteries, Basic Parts Supply for Minor Repairs and Minimum Level of Truck Stock/Tools) 

Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

Valid Driver's License

High School diploma/ GED

2+ years prior relevant work experience

Backflow Certified through ABPA or other equivalent (current)

City of Phoenix Repair Certification a plus (ASSE 5000)

Ability to travel to multiple job sites each day

Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders multiples times a day

Decent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently, with little supervision 

Knowledge of fire systems and tools

Organized, systematic and adherent to deadlines
