ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer at LVT, you will be a key driver in building scalable, production-grade microservices and APIs that power our intelligent site platform. Working as an individual contributor alongside a dedicated software engineering team, you will design, code, and deploy high-performance backend systems while upholding strict software craftsmanship standards. Success in this role means consistently shipping resilient product features, optimizing critical backend infrastructure, and mentoring fellow engineers through thoughtful code reviews and technical collaboration.

This role is onsite based out of our American Fork, UT headquarters.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design & Ship Backend Services: Architect, implement, and maintain high-velocity backend features and API endpoints using Node.js and TypeScript.

  • Ensure High System Performance: Optimize backend system architecture, API latency, and database query performance to support expanding platform scale.

  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with Product Management, QA, and DevOps to translate feature requirements into clear technical specifications, accurate estimations, and timely releases.

  • Elevate Code Quality: Champion engineering best practices by driving rigorous unit testing, conducting constructive code reviews, and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.

  • Debug & Resolve Complex Technical Issues: Perform root-cause analysis on complex production defects, resolving edge cases swiftly to preserve uptime and data integrity.

  • Provide Peer Mentorship: Offer technical guidance and feedback to fellow engineers, fostering a continuous learning environment across the engineering team.

  • Streamline Engineering Processes: Contribute to continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, automated testing, and developer tooling to improve delivery efficiency.

  • Stay Current on Emerging Tech: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of modern cloud architecture, server frameworks, and backend patterns to keep LVT's systems cutting-edge.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Technical Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • Proven Backend Expertise: 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production-level microservices and APIs.

  • Strong Node.js & TypeScript Skills: 3+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining robust backend services in Node.js and TypeScript.

  • API Development: Hands-on experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs (OpenAPI) and/or GraphQL queries and mutations.

  • Modern Frameworks & Infrastructure: Familiarity with modern server frameworks (such as NestJS) and containerized workflows utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.

  • Database Proficiency: Practical experience with relational database systems (SQL) and schema design optimization.

  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of solving complex technical problems amidst evolving requirements.
