The Development intern position is designed to provide a undergraduate student or recent graduate experience and exposure to a variety of information technology (IT) administration tasks. This is a paid internship role.

In this position, the ideal candidate will:

support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of web-based applications. This entry-level internship is designed to provide hands-on experience across both front-end and back-end development while working closely with experienced developers in an agile, collaborative environment.

This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate who is eager to learn, build practical skills, and gain real-world experience in full‑stack development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with the development and enhancement of web applications using front-end and back-end technologies
  • Support front-end development tasks such as building user interfaces, layouts, and interactive elements
  • Assist with back-end development, including APIs, relational or object databases, and client-side / server-side logic
  • Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code under guidance from senior developers
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality
  • Help test, debug, and troubleshoot application issues
  • Collaborate with developers, designers, and business partners on assigned tasks or projects
  • Learn and follow secure coding practices, version control standards, and development processes
  • Contribute to documentation and technical notes as needed

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING

Required:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of programming concepts and web development fundamentals
  • Familiarity with at least one front-end language or framework (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, or similar)
  • Familiarity with at least one back-end language or framework (e.g., .NET, Java, Python, Node.js, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of databases (SQL or NoSQL concepts)
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and tools

Preferred:

  • Exposure to full‑stack projects through coursework, personal projects, or internships
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as Git
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs
  • Experience using development tools or IDEs (e.g., VS Code, IntelliJ, Eclipse)

PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential duties are routinely performed in a professional office environment, but may be conducted in remote or field locations. The role may require work at a station/desk and routinely requires use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/scanners, fax machines, printers, and filing cabinets. Duties may require use of transportation to attend meetings or conduct duties outside of the office environment. Must be able to regularly remain in a stationary position and occasionally move about the office to access office machinery and facilities. Occasionally must be able to move/transport materials weighing up to 30 pounds, as well as position self to access files, equipment and work materials. This role frequently communicates to internal and external resources both verbally and written, via face-to-face, electronic and telephonic media. Must be able to understand and exchange accurate information in these situations, as well as translate into action. Short-term and long-term memory, abstract reasoning and decision making may be required on a regular basis. Core office / business operational hours may be required.
