Position Overview: Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer on Gamefam’s analytics team, you will lead infrastructure and enhance data capabilities to support better decision‑making. This role requires broad experience in insights and game development and will report to the Senior Director, Product Management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy & Audience Alignment: Maintain strategy and audience understanding for the game, ensuring alignment with the development team’s efforts.
  • Product Strategy: Advise on product choices to create competitive advantages and adapt to market dynamics.
  • Organizational Connection: Link product strategy with broader company strategy.
  • Strategic Planning: Support strategic planning and forecasting, set targets, and monitor performance.
  • Data & Insights: Oversee data, research, analytics, playtesting, market research, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure efficient resource allocation, including workforce planning and spending.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, lead, mentor, and support career growth for Insights team members.
  • Hiring & Staffing: Plan, staff, and hire for Insights positions within the business unit.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (advanced degree can substitute for up to 2 years of experience).
  • Experience: 5+ years in the gaming industry, with 3+ years directly in game development.
  • Technical Skills:4+ years with MySQL-based databases.
    High proficiency in SQL, Laravel, Vue.js.
    Knowledge of MVC design pattern and code versioning tools (Git & GitHub).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent teamwork, leadership, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management.
  • Cross‑Functional Experience: Experience working in cross‑functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
