Vulnerability Management Engineering Intern
Responsibilities
  • Drive VM Ops & Automation: Lead initiatives to automate repetitive vulnerability management tasks, such as scan orchestration, data normalization, and remediation tracking.

  • Develop Backend Integrations: Design and maintain Python/similar programming language scripts and middleware using FastAPI, GraphQL, and REST APIs to connect security tools with internal databases and platforms.

  • Manage Security Data: Query and manipulate large datasets within databases to provide actionable insights into the organization's vulnerability posture.

  • Support Infrastructure Engineering: Collaborate directly with Infrastructure teams (Network, Systems, DevOps and Endpoint Engineering, etc) to integrate patching/remediation workflows into their domains.

  • Automate Workflows & Playbooks: Assist in documenting and building automated security playbooks and operational workflows to replace manual processes.

  • Evaluate Security Tech: Assist with evaluating emerging security technologies, specifically focusing on their API capabilities and integration potential.

  • Apply Security Frameworks: Learn and apply cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST and CIS to automate compliance checks and infrastructure hardening.

  • Investigate/Troubleshoot: Help monitor and respond to security alerts/issues, utilizing your engineering background to analyze root causes and technical impact.

  • Stay Current on Threats: Stay informed on the latest security threats, zero-day vulnerabilities and technology advancements, focusing on how automation can accelerate time-to-remediation as well as optimize/create workflows

Qualifications
  • Engineering Background: Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with a focus on software development/systems.

  • Backend Proficiency: Hands-on experience with programming languages and a solid understanding of database structures (SQL/NoSQL) and data manipulation.

  • Middleware & APIs: Comfortable working with various API architectures, including REST, GraphQL, and FastAPI.

  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Basic understanding of how infrastructure teams operate, including network protocols, systems administration, and endpoint management.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify manual gaps and solve them through programmatic automation.

  • Adaptability: Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to a fast-paced security operations environment.

  • Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting technical processes and collaborating across engineering squads.

  • Independence: Ability to manage assigned automation projects independently and follow through on complex technical deliverables.
