Our nationwide Mortgage customer is seeking a Senior Database Developer / Engineer responsible for the design, development, integration, support, and optimization of enterprise applications, databases, and technology solutions supporting the Digital Mortgage ecosystem. This role serves as a senior technical resource, partnering with business leaders, vendors, and technology teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions that improve operational efficiency and business performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development: Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into functional technical specifications. Write clean, scalable code (MS SQL and .NET C#) across multi-platforms under the guidance of senior technical architects.
  • Data Forensics: Analyze database schemas and perform data forensics to reverse engineer existing systems, locate defects, and understand data lineage.
  • Data Integration: Utilize advanced SQL knowledge to develop robust processes handling high volumes of data via native SSIS, REST APIs, and Azure integrations.
  • Pipeline Management: Build and maintain automated frameworks for data import, data export, and secure file transfers.
  • Full-Stack Support: Troubleshoot issues across different layers including databases, application code, operating systems, and server networks.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with third-party software vendors to troubleshoot and resolve application defects.
  • DevOps & Testing: Maintain source code control within DevOps pipelines and write comprehensive automated testing scripts.
  • Documentation: Create and update technical system manuals, root cause analysis (RCA) reports, and deployment logs.
  • Production Support: Provide operational tier-3 application support and participate in an after-hours on-call for system support/upgrades. Perform daily database monitoring for server performance and utilization to address and prevent system bottlenecks.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field (equivalent professional experience).
  • Database Skills: 3-5 years of advanced, hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server. Proven ability in writing complex queries, index optimization, and performance tuning. Mastery of backend database processing including triggers, service brokers, CLR functions/procedures, parsing and rendering JSON/XML data, and advanced SSIS package development. Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, or Microsoft Fabric is highly preferred.
  • Development Stack: 3-5 years of core experience with the Microsoft stack, specifically .NET Framework/.NET Core, .NET MVC, ASP.NET, SQL CLR, and C#. Strong familiarity maintaining source control, managing branching strategies, and configuring CI/CD deployment pipelines within Azure DevOps or GitHub.
  • Web & Integration: 3-5 years hands-on experience with JSON and XML, JavaScript, Base64 encoding, and RESTful API integrations (Azure API management is a plus). Including experience troubleshooting event-based and distributed processes.
  • Scripting: 3-5 years of experience using scripting language for task automation, PowerShell is preferred.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work Ethic: A results-oriented individual who is a quick learner and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Take initiatives and collaborate with team members to resolve system issues.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work after-hours and willingness to join an on-call support and system maintenance.
  • Mortgage Experience: 0–3 years in the mortgage industry, supporting Loan Origination Systems (Encompass, VESTA, MortgageBot) or ancillary applications (ImageFlow, Loan Vision). Some understanding of data workflows in mortgage loan origination, underwriting, compliance, or post-closing quality control.
