Job description

MANAGER, FACILITIES OPERATIONS (DATACENTERS)

SpaceX is launching at an incredible tempo out of multiple launch complexes and process more payloads than ever.  The Facilities Infrastructure Manager is responsible for keeping the backbone power, HVAC, fire protection, compressed air, plumbing, building structures and general facilities infrastructure in operational working order for all assets throughout the largest site at SpaceX.  This team owns maintenance, repair, and installation of all facility related infrastructure and utilities -- buildings, HVAC equipment, industrial mechanical systems, fire/ life safety systems, water infrastructure, and grounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a diverse team of supervisors and technicians dedicated to ensuring zero unplanned interruption in services to employees and customers
  • Manage scheduling and forecasting, career development, extreme ownership of total execution, building safety and reliability controls into our operations
  • Work directly with engineers to plan, resource, and execute projects based off manifest needs and requests of the operation to bolster process and efficiency improvements
  • Review work instructions and executed work to improve the overall process of the work center and the individual execution of the team
  • Conduct continuous assessment of resource needs, including responsibility for support projects and life cycle operational costs
  • Oversee contractors for work on site related to the facilities infrastructure maintenance including all mechanical, structural, HVAC, electrical, and water systems to ensure vendors meet corporate standards and deliver promised services and materials
  • Manage overall preventative maintenance onsite, help develop priorities and strategies for large repair/replacement
  • Manage the company fleet vehicles (non-flight hardware related), maintenance, registration, insurance and coordinate purchasing
  • Track and communicate key performance indicators, such as safety metrics, quality metrics, labor trends, and operating expenses to the team and executive leadership
  • Provide on-call 24x7 support for any facility related troubleshooting or emergency repairs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience working in a technical and hands-on capacity in construction, facility maintenance, or manufacturing support environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or construction
  • Knowledge and understanding of building management, automated facilities monitoring systems and processes including HVAC systems, fluid plumbing systems, high-power electrical systems, telecommunications infrastructure, fire suppression systems, generators, above and underground fuel storage systems, and other facility and grounds requirements
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex problems to a wide variety of audiences
  • Strong work ethic and drive for constant improvement balanced with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to understand and provide feedback on facility designs and maintenance operations
  • Must be organized and self-driven capable of working independently with little direction
  • Ability to independently and effectively manage projects in an extremely fast paced and changing environment
  • Oversee projects on time, deal with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and work with a diverse array of contacts

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel as needed
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, weekends, and non-standard workweek hours.
  • Must be comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, as well as able to absorb and re-plan for abrupt changes in strategic direction.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Level 1: $140,000 - $180,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year.
