Job description

Overview

Part-time Hospitality Instructor provides instruction within our Associate Degree of Hospitality Management. Instruction held at Central Campus or community partners and may include online instruction, embedded instruction in program courses, facilitating accelerated programs, and teaching daytime and evening courses. The position will report to the Administrative Chair - Business.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for assigned classes.
  • Remain current with industry needs and assure graduate outcomes that meet the workplace expectations.
  • Develop and maintain industry relationships.
  • Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
  • Create a classroom/lab environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
  • Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
  • Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.
  • Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods.
  • Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
  • Meet Wisconsin Technical College System requirements through the Faculty Quality Assurances System.
  • Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, hotel and restaurant management or related field, will consider Associate Degree with equivalent combination or education and work experience.

  • Two years or 4,000 hours of culinary work experience.  (If Associate Degree, 6 years or 12,000 hours of culinary/hospitality experience).

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Management or related field. 
  • Blackhawk Technical College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.
