Job description

Responsibilities:

The District Intervention Tutor provides targeted reading and/or math support to help students strengthen essential skills and make academic progress. Tutors work closely with school staff in grades 1-5 to ensure interventions align with each student's identified needs.

  • Provide direct reading and/or math intervention to assigned students.
  • Deliver targeted instruction based on students' identified academic needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to support student progress.
  • Maintain accurate weekly logs of tutoring hours and interventions provided.
  • Record and monitor student attendance.
  • Communicate student progress, needs, and concerns with appropriate school staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Successful prior teaching experience for these grade levels a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Ability to interpret policies as related to job functions.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and families.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
