Job description


The Student Tutor serves as a positive role model and provides academic support that contributes to student learning, growth, retention, and academic success. Tutors assist students in developing subject comprehension, critical thinking skills, and effective study habits while fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment. This is a part-time staff position at Desoto Campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of an Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior tutoring or teaching experience
  • Successful completion of college-level coursework in subjects such as:
    • College Algebra
    • Trigonometry
    • Calculus
    • Physics
    • Chemistry
  • Accounting (preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a genuine desire to support and encourage students from diverse backgrounds, age groups, and academic levels
  • Must demonstrate patience, flexibility, professionalism, dependability, and a positive attitude
  • Basic computer proficiency required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Contribute to student learning, academic growth, and achievement

  10. Perform all duties as assigned by CTE Support Services Coordinator
