Job description

Position Summary

As a Lead Metabolic Technician, you will serve as the expert and primary provider of Active and Resting Metabolic Assessments (AMA & RMA) in the club, helping members understand and improve their cardiovascular fitness through science-backed assessment and conditioning protocols. In this leadership role, you’ll mentor other technicians and trainers in the proper delivery of metabolic assessments, uphold the highest standards of service, and contribute to the growth of heart-rate-based coaching throughout the club. This role requires strong knowledge of physiology, program design, and a passion for education and member experience.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct Metabolic Assessments: Deliver AMA and RMA appointments, interpret assessment data, explain heart rate zone results, and develop personalized 4-6 week conditioning programs for each participant.
  • Program Promotion and Member Engagement: Serve as the club’s subject matter expert in heart-rate based conditioning. Collaborate with Personal Trainers and other fitness professionals to drive AMA engagement and educate members on the benefits of zone-based training.
  • Team Mentorship and Training: Guide and support other Metabolic Technicians and Trainers in understanding and delivering AMA services. Assist in training new technicians and ensure consistency in assessment protocols across the team.
  • Equipment and Technology Oversight: Maintain AMA equipment functionality, monitor mask inventory, and ensure accurate calibration. Collaborate with PT Leader to resolve maintenance needs promptly.
  • Administrative Duties and Communication: Track appointment completions, maintain accurate member records, and communicate findings to trainers and other relevant team members.
  • Ongoing Learning and Development: Engage in required and elective trainings to remain current in heart rate training, aerobic development, and member programming strategies.

Minimum Required Qualifications   

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Years of Experience:

  • 6+ months experience delivering Active Metabolic Assessments or similar cardio-based assessments
  • 1+ year experience as a Personal Trainer, Small Group Coach, or Studio Instructor
  • Comfortable with basic data interpretation and exercise physiology principles

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:

  • Certified Personal Trainer
  • CPR and AED Certified

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree in Exercise Science or related field
