Position Summary
The Nursing Program at Central Michigan University invites applications for a full-time fixed-term faculty position beginning in August 2026 for the Fall 2026 semester. The successful candidate will provide instructional leadership in maternity and pediatric nursing, including didactic teaching and oversight of clinical instructors assigned to related clinical courses. The faculty member will also teach other nursing courses as assigned based on program needs. Other teaching-related activities of this position may include student advising and satisfying accreditation or professional standards, where applicable.
This position requires collaboration with faculty, staff, and clinical instructors to support student success, course quality, and program effectiveness. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to course coordination, curriculum implementation, and ongoing program development.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current unencumbered registered nurse license.
  • Eligibility for registered nurse licensure in the State of Michigan.
  • Recent clinical expertise in maternity, pediatric, or related nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in Nursing or related field (e.g., DNP, PhD, EdD).
  • Prior teaching experience in prelicensure nursing education.
  • Experience teaching maternity and/or pediatric nursing content.
  • Experience coordinating courses and working with clinical instructors.
  • Experience with curriculum development, course revision, and student evaluation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and excellence in nursing education.

The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions consists of five academic units (Department of Physical Therapy, Department of Physical Education and Sport, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the School of Health Sciences, and the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Science). The college offers undergraduate and/or graduate degree programs in athletic training, audiology, communication sciences and disorders, exercise science, environmental health and safety, health administration, physical activity specialist, physical education, physical therapy, physician assistant, public health, school and public health education, speech-language pathology, and sport management, delivered by 100+ faculty/staff.
