Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal or Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer (Liaison Engineering) to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. This position is for 9/80 schedule on 2nd Shift (Start time is 1:00pm), located in Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), TX.

The selected candidate will become part of the MRB / Liaison Engineering team within the Vehicle Engineering IPT.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating with a multi-disciplined team of engineers responsible for providing engineering support.

  • Working with subsystems installations and composite & metallic structures.

  • Performing timely dispositions for nonconforming parts, assemblies, and installations.

  • Working as part of a Material Review Board (MRB) and Engineering Change Request (ECR) processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership, and problem solving abilities.

  • Basic knowledge of subsystems: electrical, hydraulics, fuels, fluids and propulsion systems.

  • Support the structural design activities with focus on metallic structures.

  • This individual will utilize 3D CAD using CATIA V5 to support design tasks.

  • The candidate should also have an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.

  • Some of the tools use are: CATIA V5 and TeamCenter Unified & Enterprise.

This position can be filled at the Principal (Level 3) engineer or Sr. Principal (Level 4) engineer level.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Basic qualifications for a Principal Engineer include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.

  • Basic qualifications for a Sr. Principal Engineer include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 8 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with 3 years of experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management, and customer.

  • Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including 3D parametric modeling software.

  • Knowledge of the MRB process / experience with the MRB process

  • Experience with CATIA V5, NX, Visualization Pro, TeamCenter, MES, or other CAD programs

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance and any applicable Special Access Programs within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience working in an aircraft manufacturing facility

  • Experience interfacing with a military customer

  • Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment

  • Experience with aircraft subsystem design

  • Previous MRB/LE Authority for Engineering

  • Certification in Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is advantageous.

  • Prior experience with CATIA V5

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
