Job description

PURPOSE:
ย 

Provides direct and indirect services to assigned special education students according to their IEPs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
ย 

  1. Serve as Teacher of Record for students with moderate to intensive needs or Teacher of Service in accordance with theย 
    District's Special Education Procedures Manual and Article 7.ย 
    ย 

  2. Participates in case conference committee meetings as students' teacher to assist in developing measurable goals, benchmarks,ย 
    and objectives to meet student needs.
    ย 

  3. Develop and implement lessons for the essential skills classroom aligned to Indiana Content Connector Standards.ย 
    ย 
  4. Create activities to support executing functioning, intellectual, and adaptive skills, as well as emotional regulation, social growth,ย 
    and increased independence.ย 
    ย 

  5. Regularly monitor the implementation of the student's IEP and provide progress reports to the student's parents.
    ย 
  6. Ensures students' IEPs are available to the appropriate teachers and service providers who are responsible for implementation of the IEP.
    ย 
  7. Informs each teacher and provider of his/her specific responsibilities related to implementing a student's IEP as appropriate.
    ย 
  8. Ensures all supplementary aids, services, program modifications and supports for school personnel are provided in accordance with each student's IEP.
    ย 
  9. Helps to develop Emergency Evacuation Plans and Healthcare Plans for all students on caseload.ย 
    ย 
  10. Works collaboratively with the Special Educator coordinator to develop behavior intervention plans.ย 
    ย 
  11. Serves as a consultant and resource person to all other personnel providing services to students with IEPs.
    ย 
  12. Ensures allย accommodations on statewide or district assessments are implemented according to the student's IEP.
    ย 
  13. Collaborates with outside agencies to support the whole child as needed.ย ย 
    ย 
  14. Develop transition plans for eligible students to to support the development of a wide range of skills across the domains ofย 
    support education, employment, and independent living skills.
    ย 

  15. Participates in reevaluations of the student.
    ย 
  16. Will obtain Crisis Prevention Certification provided by NWHSC after hire.ย 
    ย 
  17. When serving as Teacher of Record, ensures the case conference committee is informed of any modifications made to theย 
    student's IEP in accordance with 511 IAC 7-42-9(e)(2) and 511 IAC 7-42-9(g).

  18. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the superintendent or his or her designee may assign.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
ย 

  • Valid IN Teaching License in Special Education, Intensive Licensure Preferred, Mild License acceptable and a minimumย 
    of 2 years successful special education experience.
    ย 

  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.ย
