Title: Expert Business System Specialist
Location: Local to bay area
Duration: 12+ months
We specifically need someone with good SAP experience with the Materials Management module. Experience with SQL and creating dashboards is a plus.
Department Overview
The Procurement Organization includes a staff of more than two hundred sourcing managers, buyers, analysts, and supplier diversity personnel. Our mission is to deliver cost effective and valued procurement services through strategic, diverse, and sustainable business solutions. Our work requires close integration with all functional areas, finance, and our suppliers.
The Procurement Excellence Center (PEC) is a strategic function dedicated to driving procurement transformation, operational efficiency, and value creation across the organization. Within the Procurement organization, the PEC establishes best practices, standardizes processes, and leverages systems, advanced analytics, and market intelligence to enable data-driven decision-making. The PEC collaborates with all Procurement teams to enhance capabilities, improve performance, and optimize costs. Key focus areas include systems, market intelligence and analytics, digital procurement transformation, risk management, supplier relationship management, governance, and capability development.
Position Summary
The Business System Specialist (BSS):
• Functions as a liaison to Information Technology from the Procurement Organization, representing the end users and business process owners in business system requirements, implementations, and support.
• Understands user needs as well as business procedures, processes, and systems for the Procurement Organization.
• Defines user system requirements, provides user support, coordinates user acceptance testing of new tools and consults with the users on new technologies and features that may contribute to business process efficiencies.
• May also perform feasibility analysis, develop project scope, and provide recommendations on alternative solutions, project strategy and deliverable prioritization.
• Prepares and delivers business users' system needs to Information Technology and represents user needs in the development of functional specifications.
• Develops, maintains, and supports Procurement systems, tools, data, dashboards, and reports to support the Procurement organization in its performing and monitoring of day-to-day activities, programs, and initiatives.
• Ensures that meaningful, consistent data is available for reporting and analytics.
Responsibilities
• Provide expert consulting in business and user needs.
• Analyze and document business requirements for complex projects.
• Analyze end-to-end complex business processes and coordinate with IT to develop and implement solutions to information needs.
• Understand in detail current and future business environment; effectively anticipate, identify, and fully meet the business needs.
• Identify, propose, and influence solutions to complex business problems.
• Anticipate concerns and questions, and provide proactive, timely and professional communications or delegate as appropriate.
• Act as a key contributor to teams that define, review, and approve requirements for the business needs solution.
• Participate in UATs and perform quality reviews of test results.
• May assist with training, change management and communications associated with system implementations.
• Contribute to business case development.
• May write manuals, Requests for Change, procedures.
• Maintain and provide systems support for Procurement systems, including but not limited to SAP table maintenance, mass updates, file uploads, roles, etc.
• Develop reports and dashboards to be used for analytics and data-driven decision making.
Qualifications
Minimum
• BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Computer Science/Information Systems, etc. or equivalent work experience.
• 7 years of job-related experience in Business, IT or Engineering fields.
• Participation in projects of high complexity at an expert level or in a leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of SAP Materials Management functionality (understanding of tables and data relationships/structures).
• Knowledge of Supply Chain Processes
• Systems Knowledge: Power BI, PowerApps, PowerAutomate, DAX, SQL, JSON, Snowflake, Datasphere, Python (PANDAs and NumPy), S/4 HANA.
• Skilled at Object-Oriented Programming, Data Visualization (telling a story with visuals), User Experience and User Interface
