Overview
We are hiring a Product Manager, Services and Applications. The Product Manager, Services and Applications will own the strategy, lifecycle and performance of the product line portfolio, ensuring offerings meet customer needs, regulatory compliance and financial targets. They will act as the central interface between Commercial, Technical (R&D), Operations, Quality/Regulatory, and Business Support teams to define requirements, prioritize developments, and drive successful commercialization and ongoing optimization of services and or applications-based products.

Responsibilities:
  • Support assigned product lines to ensure that current and prospective customers receive high-quality products and an excellent level of services.
  • Conduct market and customer research (e.g. key account discussions, VOC, competitive analysis) to identify unmet needs, services gaps, and new offering opportunities in custom media and bioprocess support services.
  • Define clear product and services requirements (technical, commercial and operational) in partnership with R&D, Operations, and Quality for new custom solutions, services, applications, and enhancements.
  • Partner with other portfolio product managers, Business Support, R&D, and Pricing teams to develop pricing strategies, value-based pricing models, and commercial packages for service and application solutions.
  • Define, monitor, and analyze key product KPIs (e.g. revenue, margin, win rate, TAT, uptake by segments) and use data to drive portfolio and process improvements.
  • Support Sales and key account managers with product/services positioning by defining technical and commercial value propositions for segmented target markets.
  • Lead lifecycle management for custom services portfolio, including enhancements, rationalization, cost optimization, and potential EOL decisions in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Manage product roadmap for assigned product line/s, host cross-functional meetings with functional stakeholders as needed
  • Work closely with Quality and Regulatory Affairs to ensure service offerings meet applicable industry standards, customer quality expectations, and regulatory requirements
  • Act as the "Voice of customer" for services internally, ensuring that customer experience, scientific requirements and bioprocess workflows are reflected in product decisions.
  • Contribute to marketing plans and campaigns for services, including messaging, segmentation, and content development in partnership with Marketing.
  • Create dashboard for tracking service projects from opportunity to completion and monitor win/loss, number of projects by type and molecule, and long-term revenue potential
  • Provide sales training, as needed, to support effective promotion and communication of services offerings.
  • Create and maintain standardized document templates (e.g. proposals, business criteria, specifications) to support consistent and efficient
  • Develop and update training materials and documentation to support ongoing sales and internal stakeholder training on services capabilities
  • Respond to and support internal department inquiries and requests related to services offerings in a timely and professional manner.

Required Skills/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Life Science (e.g. biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology) or related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, marketing, technical support or commercial operations within the life science or bioprocessing industry.
  • Direct experience with cell culture media, bioprocessing reagents, or related custom/contract services strongly preferred.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with R&D/Technical transfer consultation, Operations/Manufacturing, Quality/Regulatory, and Commercial teams
  • Prior experience in services-oriented or custom/manufacturing-to-order business model (e.g. custom media, CDMO, CRO or technical services) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of cell culture processes and applications (e.g. upstream bioprocessing, media optimization, cell line development) sufficient to engage credibly with technical teams and customers.
  • Strong business acumen, including basic financial literacy (revenue, margin, pricing) and familiarity with value-based selling
  • Demonstrated ability to collect and synthesize customer feedback, market trends, and competitive intelligence into clear product requirements and roadmaps.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with CRM (e.g. Salesforce), ERP and analytics/reporting tools is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to translate technical concepts into clear value propositions for commercial and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to create and deliver effective training materials and sales tools (presentations, FAQs, playbooks and templates)

Salary and Benefits:
  • For California, the base salary range for this position is $88,452-$115,293. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
