Who We Are:

With three campuses along Colorado’s Front Range, FRCC is the state’s largest community college. We enroll close to 28,000 students annually from our diverse service area, which offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities.

Job Summary:

As a part-time instructor in the Mathematics department, you provide instruction in all levels of mathematics, including certificate and/or transfer levels. You work individually, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop an innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students. Student retention and success are your top priority. You utilize technology and effective teaching strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills.

As an instructor, you will maintain an updated gradebook; be observed regularly; behave professionally; and comply with other department and/or college policies, processes, and procedures. You will recognize and address the impacts of opportunity gaps on students and develop targeted efforts to achieve equity in student success outcomes. Work is done individually and in collaboration with colleagues, collegewide, both within and outside the discipline. You will teach a fully asynchronous course(s) through our learning management system (LMS), which is called Desire2Learn (often abbreviated D2L or called MyCourses). In addition to the criteria listed above, you are also expected to engage students through D2L/MyCourses at least every 24-48 hours (weekends and holidays excepted).

Course assignments will be made based on experience, availability, and the needs of the department; as a result, you may be asked to teach at different times to meet the needs of the College.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in one of several related degrees listed below.

OR

• A Master’s degree in any field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in one of the related degrees listed below.

Related Degree: Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education with a Concentration in Mathematics, Mathematics Teaching, Mathematics Curriculum, and/or Statistics

Equivalent Experience (all three conditions must be met):

• A Master’s degree in any field.
• A Bachelor's degree that meets the requirements of at least one of the following:
• Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education with a Concentration in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or Statistics, OR
• Any field with at least 18 undergraduate credit hours of Mathematics credits in Mathematics Calculus II and above; OR
• Any field with at least 18 credits in some combination of undergraduate credits in Mathematics Calculus II and above and graduate credits that apply to a graduate degree in Mathematics.
• State of Colorado Professional Teacher License with Mathematics Education 7-12 Endorsement.

Qualifications can vary based on course. Qualifications are more specialized for Calculus II and above as well as Intro to Statistics, and less restrictive for developmental Mathematics courses. Selection Process:

The selection process for this instructor position will be conducted through a competitive, merit-based evaluation of all qualified applicants. Preliminary screening will be based on the completed application package submitted by the candidate.
