Job description

Referral Specialist - TGMG Babcock Ranch

The Referral Specialist's primary role is to provide excellent customer service to physicians and patients referred for appointments or services at or from Tampa General Hospital (or a related company). The referrals specialist assists patients and providers with scheduling provider-referred appointments within the health system or facilitating connections to outside groups at provider direction or based upon patient preference. The referral specialist obtains or facilitates authorizations and may support the practice with non-referral work including patient registration, appointment scheduling, and check-in/out if working in a clinic. Essential functions include: processing and tracking patient referrals, facilitating transfer of medical records, identifying and routing patient appointment information to the correct recipient, creating, modifying, and canceling appointments, obtaining authorizations of referrals as required, corresponding with providers and patients, and indexing faxes. This role supports our TGMG Babcock Ranch clinic in the Fort Myers area.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Work Experience: 2 years experience in healthcare customer service
  • Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Patient Registration, Insurance authorization and referrals, Patient Scheduling, Medical Terminology, Customer Service & Communication, Document indexing/filing
