At Lanteris Space Systems, we are looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our team onsite in our Palo Alto, CA, San Jose, or Mountain View, CA office.

A Senior Environmental Engineer oversees multimedia environmental programs, ensuring compliance with Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) permits, RCRA/CUPA hazardous waste, NPDES stormwater, and groundwater. The position demands Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) expertise to mitigate workplace hazards.

Core Responsibilities

Air Quality & Permitting (BAAQMD Focus)

  • Lead BAAQMD permitting and rules compliance for facility operations.
  • Direct the tracking, documentation, and reporting of toxic air contaminants and criteria pollutants.
  • Prepare and submit Annual Emissions Reports (AER), Health Risk Assessments (HRA), and air dispersion modeling.

Hazardous Waste & Groundwater Remediation:

  • Develop and maintain Hazardous Materials Business Plans (HMBPs), EPCRA reporting, and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.
  • Provide oversight on subsurface investigations, groundwater monitoring programs, and corrective action/remediation technologies.

Storm Water & Industrial Wastewater:

  • Lead Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) implementation, monitoring, and annual reporting.
  • Manage industrial discharge permits and evaluate Best Management Practices (BMPs) to prevent pollution in surface runoff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident
  • Education: B.S. or M.S. in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Certification: Active Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive environmental consulting or industry experience
  • Experience with Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) air permitting and site remediation.
  • Ability to travel to bay area offices as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • P.E. certification is highly desirable.
  • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

The base pay for this position within California is: $111,000.00 - $185,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
