The Pre-Analytics Processing Technicianis responsible formanually processing laboratory specimens, performing daily quality assuranceactivities,andmaintainingequipment. A caregiver in thispositionworksfull-time|evenings+ on-call|3:00pm-11:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Receive andaccessionspecimens into the LIS (Lab Information System).

  • Prepare specimens for analysis.

  • Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting, and routine maintenance), problem-solvingfunctions,and issue resolution.

  • Assume compliance with basic regulations (temperature monitoring).

  • Perform QA activities (pendinglog audit).

  • Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens and verify receipts in the lab.

  • Perform basic clerical functions (i.e.,answeringphones).

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GEDandone year of lab experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate's degree, preferably in a science related field(this may substitute theoneyear of experience needed above)

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements

  • May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.

  • Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.

  • Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.

  • Must have normal or corrected vision.

  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $19.25

Maximum hourly: $29.30
