Job description

Job Title: Flight Maintenance Engineer

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: FME Supervisor

POSITION PURPOSE:

The FME travels with an aircraft and is responsible for providing total line maintenance and technical support for the aircraft to which he is assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Conduct Terminating Service maintenance checks on B747, B767 and B777 aircraft.

2. Conduct Daily Checks on B747, B767 and B777 aircraft.

3. Conduct ETOPS Pre-Departure Service Checks on B777 aircraft. (ETOPS authorization required)

4. Maintain contact with Maintenance Control regarding the aircraft's condition.

5. Accomplish all required servicing and updates of the aircraft.

6. Troubleshoot and repair defects of Non-Scheduled maintenance and differed maintenance items utilizing the FIM and AMM manuals. Complete all return to service paperwork.

7. Forward copies of repair information to Maintenance Control as work completed. Send original paperwork to Aircraft Records.

· Maintain current inventory of the fly-away kits (FAK), including serviceable parts, UN-serviceable parts and tools. Ensure that all FAK parts and tools are secured per the KA weight and balance manual. Coordinate the return of used parts. Maintain and update Fly-away Kit Deviations Form while accomplishing Terminating Service Check. (refer to Kalitta Air B747, B767 and B777 Weight and Balance Manual for Form)

8. Maintain the flight and supernumerary areas as clean, safe and free of all loose items. Provide list of needed supplies to Station representative.

9. On international flights ensure all garbage and food items are bagged for disposal per federal regulations. Accomplish bug disinfection as required.

10. Report to line station supervisory personnel when on the ground at line maintenance station.

11. Perform other duties as directed by supervisor or Maintenance Control.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate; some college and/or technical school desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give verbal and written direction to assigned staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· FAA Airframe & Power Plant Certificate

· Individual must be organized and able to work with computers and programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

· Must be eligible to work in the US

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

The FME travels with an aircraft 20 days on, 10 days off. International travel will require interaction with customs officials both foreign and domestic. FME will be required to meet that country’s expectation and be in compliance.
