This is an exciting opportunity to help transform a traditional Java application into a modern architecture utilizing Spring Boot, Angular, Docker, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, relational databases, and modern DevSecOps practices. You'll work on challenging technical problems while contributing to architectural decisions, improving system performance, and helping shape the future of a critical enterprise system.

If you enjoy modernizing existing applications, learning new technologies, and collaborating with highly skilled engineers in an Agile environment, we'd like to hear from you.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Analyze user and system requirements to design, develop, test, and maintain Java and Angular applications.
  • Design, develop, and support RESTful APIs, service integrations, and data access components for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other relational databases.
  • Support application modernization initiatives, including Spring Boot migration, database modernization, microservices, and containerization.
  • Deploy and support containerized applications in Kubernetes environments across cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, technical design, and continuous process improvement.
  • Develop automated unit and integration tests, support CI/CD pipelines, and maintain technical documentation using Confluence and Jira.
  • Provide backup database administration support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB while cross-training across application, database, and deployment technologies to ensure operational continuity.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of software engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Security Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with polygraph
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing Java enterprise applications using Spring Boot (or similar frameworks) and Angular (or comparable front-end technologies).
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and integrating applications with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or other relational databases.
  • Experience with application modernization, including Spring Boot migrations, microservices, and database modernization initiatives.
  • Experience developing, deploying, and supporting containerized applications using Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes platforms (e.g., Rancher, Amazon EKS, OpenShift).
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts including Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingress, Persistent Volumes, Helm charts, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience implementing GitLab CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevSecOps practices, and modern software delivery processes.
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence in Agile environments, providing database operational support, and working with XML, JSON, or other structured data formats.
Why Join Leidos?
  • Work on a mission-critical enterprise application supporting National Security.
  • Help modernize a production Java platform using Spring Boot, Angular, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and technical design decisions that shape the future of the application.
  • Expand your expertise across software engineering, containerization, relational databases, CI/CD, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Collaborate with an experienced Agile development team solving complex technical challenges using modern software engineering practices.

At Leidos, the opportunities are boundless. We challenge our staff with interesting assignments that allow them to thrive professionally and personally. For us, helping you grow your career is good business. We look forward to learning more about you.
