Job description

Pay Range: $28-$35/hour based on experience

Hours: Our HVAC Service technicians arrive at our shop near Downtown Des Moines at 7:30AM, and typically finish work around 4-5PM. We do provide overtime services (nights, weekends, holidays) and all service technicians may be called upon to work overtime calls. 

On-Call Service: We currently rotate our HVAC Service Technicians for weekly on-call. This means that during your week of on-call selection, the technician has our phone number forwarded to their cell phone from 5PM-8AM for emergency repairs. *Technicians are never expected to give estimates, schedule maintenance, or take sales calls outside of business hours.* This is strictly for emergency services for overtime charges for the customer.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an HVAC Service Technician
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of HVAC systems
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Duties: 

  • Troubleshooting HVAC systems for electrical and mechanical defects.
  • Perform seasonal preventative maintenance: Cleaning, adjusting, and repairing systems, and performing warranty services.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure their needs are met
  • Maintaining a detailed inventory of all HVAC equipment and resources.
  • Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Adhere to safety standards and company policies
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed
  • Participate in all technical training
  • Complying with service standards, work instructions, and customers’ requirements
  • Ability to work after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays with short notice.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces

Other Qualifications: 

•Valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record for insurance purposes
•Vocational, training, or apprenticeship of an HVAC program
