What you'll be doing

CIBC's Infrastructure team enables secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions that support key business and development teams across the bank. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll manage and modernize a complex environment across Linux, Windows, virtualization, co-located data centres, and Azure Cloud platforms.

You'll develop and deploy servers, support day-to-day operations, and help protect data and system integrity through strong operational and security practices. You'll also lead infrastructure modernization initiatives, drive cloud adoption, and identify opportunities to automate manual processes. Working closely with cross-functional partners, you'll help ensure our core systems perform effectively and continue to evolve to meet business needs.

CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days may be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Infrastructure management - Manage and maintain Microsoft, Linux, VMware, and Azure resources across on-premises and cloud environments to support stability, performance, and scalability.

  • Server deployment and support - Install, configure, and support Windows and Linux servers, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide reliable back-end support to business and development teams.

  • Cloud and platform optimization - Apply your experience with Azure services, Application Insights, Databricks, and DevOps practices to improve platform performance, automation, and operational efficiency.

  • Monitoring and issue resolution - Review backups, logs, and system alerts, resolve errors, and implement proactive monitoring to reduce risk and improve service reliability.

  • Security and compliance - Maintain system security, address vulnerabilities, and ensure infrastructure aligns with internal standards, policies, and operational controls.

  • Collaboration and team development - Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues, participate in on-call support as needed, and provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Who you are

  • You have deep infrastructure experience. You bring 8+ years of server administration experience, including Linux and Windows server environments, with at least 2+ years of hands-on Azure experience. You have strong experience with Linux administration, OpenShift, VMware virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure environments, including co-located data centres.

  • You understand cloud and automation. You bring experience with Azure services, DevOps practices, Application Insights, and Databricks.

  • Its an asset if you have experience with AutoSys and FeedHub. An Azure certification is also considered a plus.

  • You're a strong problem solver. You use sound troubleshooting, critical thinking, and analytical skills to resolve issues, improve solutions, and support reliable system performance.

  • You work with discipline and attention to detail. You have experience with monitoring, backup, and recovery tools such as Rubrik and Azure Backup Vault, and you maintain clear technical documentation.
