The American Auto Shield Senior Data Engineer is a full-time, on-site position at our Lakewood, CO office.
We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Software Engineer who designs and builds commercial-grade systems that optimize user workflows, increase operational efficiency, and deliver measurable business value.

The Senior Software Engineer earns competitive compensation from $140,000-160,000.*
What You'll Do:
  • Architect and deliver scalable, highly available Azure-native systems supporting mission-critical business workflows.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and highly testable solutions across the full stack (Azure Services, .NET, Angular with TypeScript).
  • Architect secure, enterprise-grade solutions using Azure Functions, Service Bus, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure OpenAI services.
  • Prototype and productionize AI-enabled capabilities, integrating intelligent automation and AI-assisted workflows where they drive measurable value.
  • Articulate technical decision-making in highly collaborative environment: evaluate tradeoffs, mitigate risk, and drive pragmatic, scalable solutions.
  • Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, coding standards, solution architecture discussions, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and across product teams to translate business strategy into durable technical platforms.
  • Deploy and maintain systems via CI/CD pipelines with rigorous automated testing, including AI-assisted validation where appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement systemic improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to reducing technical debt and automating routine maintenance efforts.
  • Maintain full accountability for production systems. AI-assisted development is encouraged, but all generated code must meet strict engineering, security, and quality standards.

Requirements
What You Need to Join Our Team:
Required Experience, Skills & Abilities
  • Senior level experience and decision making typically developed 5-8 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise in C#, modern .NET, and cloud-native development patterns.
  • Proven experience designing RESTful services, fault tolerant, and distributed architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure services such as: Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus (event-driven / messaging architecture), Microsoft Entra ID (authentication & identity)
  • Experience integrating third-party platforms and external vendor systems.
  • Experience working within teams of 6-10 engineers in multi-team environments supporting high-impact, mission-critical systems relied upon daily by up to 3,000 employees.
  • Practical experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and implementing AI capabilities within applications.

Preferred Experience, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience designing data-intensive systems using SQL and modern relational or NoSQL databases.
  • Front-end experience with modern frameworks such as Angular (React or Vue a plus) using Typescript.
  • Microsoft or Azure certifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
