About the role

Intact Insurance is seeking an experienced Senior Security Advisor to strengthen its Detection Engineering in cyber defence team. This role focuses on cloud and infrastructure security, threat detection, and the development of scalable security solutions.
What you'll do here:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud, on-premises, and containerized environments.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams while managing priorities independently.
  • Support log ingestion, normalization, filtering, troubleshooting, and platform maintenance.
  • Monitor, validate, and investigate alerts using SIEM, EDR, XDR, and related security platforms.
  • Develop, tune, and maintain detection rules, security use cases, and threat signatures.
  • Investigate suspicious activity and identify new detection, mitigation, and response opportunities.
  • Reduce false positives and improve alert quality and response efficiency.
  • Administer core security tools, including Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, Microsoft Purview, and Jira.

What you bring to the table:


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • 4-6 years of experience in cybersecurity, DevOps, or infrastructure. Experience in security monitoring, including SIEM, SOAR, XDR, TIP, or UEBA platforms.
  • Knowledge of detection engineering, rule writing, MITRE ATT&CK, and the Cyber Kill Chain.
  • Understanding of threat actors, attack techniques, phishing, privilege escalation, lateral movement, and data exfiltration.
  • Experience with cloud security across AWS, Azure, or GCP, including identity, logging, and network controls.
  • Experience with Azure VMs, Load Balancer, Terraform, Kubernetes, Linux, Python, Ansible, Syslog, Logstash, CrowdStrike, and Elastic.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, prioritization, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English - Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
  • Security-related certification (CEH, GCIH, GCTI, GCFE or the equivalent), an asset.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
