How much do azure pipelines jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 19, 2026, the average yearly pay for azure pipelines in Spring, TX is $91,658.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $64,500.00 and $109,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What pays more, AWS or Azure?

For Azure Pipelines professionals, salary comparisons show that AWS roles often offer higher pay due to greater market demand and broader service offerings, but salaries vary based on experience, certifications, and location. Both cloud platforms are highly valued, and acquiring skills in either can lead to competitive compensation. Certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect can also influence salary levels.

What are some common challenges faced when managing CI/CD workflows with Azure Pipelines?

One common challenge in managing CI/CD workflows with Azure Pipelines is ensuring seamless integration between diverse code repositories, build agents, and deployment environments. Keeping pipelines efficient and secure while accommodating frequent code changes can require close collaboration with developers and IT teams. Additionally, troubleshooting failed builds or deployments often involves diagnosing complex dependencies or permissions issues. Successful Azure Pipelines engineers proactively communicate with stakeholders and continuously optimize pipeline configurations to minimize downtime and deployment risks.

What are Azure Pipelines?

Azure Pipelines is a cloud-based service that allows you to build, test, and deploy code automatically to any platform or cloud. It supports continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), enabling teams to automate the process of delivering software projects quickly and reliably. Azure Pipelines works with a variety of programming languages and platforms, integrates with GitHub, Azure Repos, and other repositories, and provides powerful tools for managing build and release workflows.

Is Microsoft phasing out Azure DevOps?

Microsoft continues to actively develop and support Azure DevOps as a comprehensive platform for CI/CD, project management, and collaboration. There are no indications that Microsoft plans to phase out Azure DevOps, and it remains a key tool for DevOps professionals and Azure Pipelines users. Job roles involving Azure Pipelines typically require familiarity with Azure DevOps services, which are expected to evolve rather than be discontinued.

What can you do with Azure Pipelines?

Azure Pipelines is a continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) service that automates building, testing, and deploying applications across multiple platforms. It supports various programming languages and integrates with other Azure DevOps tools, enabling developers to streamline their development workflows and ensure consistent software releases.

What is the difference between Azure Pipelines vs Azure DevOps Engineer?

Azure Pipelines focuses on automating build, test, and deployment processes within Azure DevOps. In contrast, an Azure DevOps Engineer oversees the entire DevOps lifecycle, including planning, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and collaboration tools. While Azure Pipelines is a tool used by Azure DevOps Engineers, the latter role encompasses broader responsibilities in managing DevOps practices across projects.

What is a job in Azure Pipelines?

A job in Azure Pipelines is a set of steps that run sequentially on a specific agent or agent pool as part of a pipeline. It defines the tasks to build, test, or deploy applications and can run independently or in parallel with other jobs, enabling efficient automation workflows. Skills in YAML, scripting, and understanding of CI/CD processes are often required to configure and manage jobs effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Azure Pipelines Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Azure Pipelines Engineer, you need expertise in DevOps practices, CI/CD concepts, and experience with Azure DevOps Services or Server, often accompanied by relevant certifications like Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert. Familiarity with tools such as YAML, PowerShell, Git, and containerization technologies is typically required. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability skills help engineers coordinate with development teams and resolve integration challenges. These skills ensure efficient, reliable software delivery and continuous improvement of deployment processes within modern development environments.
